Hello; I am setting up this site in order to describe new projects; convey some of my thoughts on game design; keep track of where I have been published; thrash out ideas for future projects

Some may say why bother as there is so much stuff on gaming out there already, what could anyone possibly add? I would counter that with 'while this is true the sheer mass of material has somehow caused the trees to be lost in the woods so to speak; and it is time to get back to basics.'

To my mind there are two types of war gamers, the first is the type who who will play anything so long as he has a good time, the second is  one who uses the war-game to educate himself on a certain period, (although he probably doesnt  see it that way), and who would reply that he likes miniatures and he collects for his prefered  period only and so of course plays in this period only. Funily so to do board and computer game players so I must assume that they are too interested in but one period.

I myself am none of the above, I like war gaming as it enables me to get away from dyed in the wool thinking and the automatic tunnel vision when analysizing military situations. To my mind the whole of military history is a single period. A bow on shield and sword conflict is, in the long run, similiar to that of an Armoured Fighting Vehicle versus  Hell Fire missile equiped drone combat, especially if you are the one being shot at.  I take the long view comparing all military conflicts as  events that have occured in the  past are sometimes more relevent to a situation than contemporary events.

Oh about the site name, I got the idea from the Latin poet Horace, the full quote 'Nil desperandum Teucro duce et auspice Teucro',  translates as, 'No need for desparation as we are under the guidence and protection of Teucher.'

Teucher was Rome,s arch Enemy. (Virgil 'The Aeneid')
